My Bio

No, I'm not really a chocobo. That's just my favorite Final Fantasy critter.

I’m your average housewife who apparently has way too much time on her hands (despite the fact that I'm a mother of six). I am currently devoting most of my attention to LiyuConberma’s alternate universe of Cosium, based on the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise.

I created a group called CosiumRealm to collect stories and art made specifically by her fans, so if you'd like to see the talents of people inspired by her work it's definitely worth a peek.

In addition to that, I have a Trollhunters fic meant to rewrite the atrocious ending that was forced upon the world and resulted in millions of disillusioned fans.

I also started posting my daughter's work as a way to record her progress in drawing. It's everything I could find from the time she was 2 to current, so you can imagine how interesting things might get. She can be found at MinaLovesArt.

Grinchy Musings

2 min read
Over the Christmas break my kids watched “The Grinch” for the first time (the cartoon, not that cringeworthy version with Jim Carrey). It was such an uplifting time with all of us sitting together and watching as a family (and occasionally translating some of the bigger vocabulary for the littles). I decided to look for some other Christmas movies we could watch, and as I was sifting through Amazon’s suggestions I came across “Rise of the Guardians”. I’d seen it once years ago and knew my husband would be vehemently opposed, but out of curiosity I went back to watch it again on my own. Though it was filled with so many sappy moments and platitudes about believing, I couldn’t help feeling Jack Frost’s personal arc gave a very beautiful, human touch to what was otherwise a mediocre story. But while reflecting on it this time around, I was struck with the sudden realization that the Guardians were ultimately Grinches in their philosophy. The Grinch’s original point of view was that

Something New

2 min read
Just a quick update on my end to say this summer has been full of ups and downs. Ups in terms of temperature, mostly. This past month I think we only had two days that were under 100 degrees. Barely. As for downs, I got tonsilitis and couldn't speak or sleep in an air conditioned room for a week, plus there was a death in the family and the kids cried for days. Still, for the most part we've been having fun playing games, doing projects around the house, and learning new things. Recently I had a lightning bolt of inspiration and have been working on a rewrite for the abysmal ending of the Trollhunters series. Everyone knows the movie took on the worst trope possible in the last five minutes, but really the true problems with the story itself started in the final season, "Wizards of Arcadia". As good as it was, the writers abandoned their own lore and continuity, which was some of the best I've ever come across in a kids' show. It bugged me so much that I spent literally weeks

For nearly 50 years one court decision arbitrarily imposed its will on my country, destroying duly elected laws and deepening hatreds rather than unifying us. Though there is still a long way to go, today is a great victory for life!

I don't have any art. All I have is lineart drawn by others but painted by me. I can't draw to save my life. Ergo, no contest for me.

I understand... even so, your coloring is beautiful, and so is your friends' lineart!

A delayed message here, but happy newyear Janika hope you had a good one!

LOL! I still have a Christmas card or two I still need to send out, so I'm good at late letters as well. Happy new year to you too!

hahaha you're like me. if it wasn't for my wife, I would end up forgetting entirely.

I've noticed men tend to have the big picture while women tend to be more detail-oriented. To most men I think sending out Christmas cards is an extremely small detail in the course of day-to-day life.
